While we are waiting to see what plans the city has for our neighborhood, many of us are also looking into the alternative of rebuilding our homes where they stand. As I research rebuilding options, I'm giving strong consideration to rebuilding "green." I imagine my wife, Liz, and I are not the only ones who might like to rebuild green if the price is right. For that reason, I think it would be good to form a committee to investigate green rebuilding as well as solicit assistance and support to help flooded corridor communities become greener.

If you are interested, please contact me at andrew@littlevillagemag.com.

We can start discussions on how a green group might work. Many of you also may have noticed the article on the front page of the Gazette today about green rebuilding in Greensburg, Kansas after that town was leveled by a tornado. I can't find the article online yet, but pick up a paper if you're interested.

Also, here are a few links of interest:

I would also like to toss out the fact that my brother owns Greenmaker, Chicago's Green Building Supply Company. He is an alum of the UI Environental Engineering Program here. Perhaps he can come meet with us as a group to discuss best practices and products. Here is some background on his company www.greenmakersupply.com
